It was announced last week that Itunes has now sold 1 billion songs. That is pretty amazing when you consider that ITunes have only been available since April 2003. That’s more that 11 songs per second for over two years and nine months.
I am not sure why it took Apple to recognize that people are actually willing to pay for a song as long as you make it available.
I was just talking with a friend of mine this morning who brough up an interesting point, what happens in 7 years, or when you are on your 3rd computer and all those songs you purchased are no longer yours?
Are we moving into a culture that is no longer about buying media but rather just renting it?
The advent of itunes Video, Google & Yahoo's video database and networks like NBC broadcasting the major events such as the Olympics online is definitely the ground work for a major shift away from television. To me the shift is not what it most interesting, but rather what device will we really be using in the future for our viewing pleasure...
